Second season will be aired in 2014. Travis Fimmel who portrays Ragnar Lothbrok is immediately recognized as main protagonist and IMHO main reason for ease of entering this world of Norseman Legend. Different times and different gods this series shows are derived from 13th century Ragnars saga, as well as in Saxo Grammaticuss 12th century work Gesta Danorum. Worth watching if for nothing than for rising ones appreciation for modern world. Being either side, Viking or Victim, in that time, around 790. was really tough. One thing we dont like about this show is that way of sailing, Vikings excelled in this they for sure did not sit in boat and wait to touch ground, there was much more skill involved. But apart from that little fumble all else works and feels great in this ongoing TV series. Beside great performance by Travis Fimmel we have also great: Katheryn Winnick as Lagertha, Ragnars wife, a shieldmaiden. Nathan OToole as Bjorn, Ragnar and Lagerthas son. Clive Standen as Rollo, Ragnars brother, the character is based on the historical person who was the great great grandfather of William the Conquerer. Gustaf Skarsgard as Floki, a gifted shipbuilder and friend of Ragnars. George Blagden as Athelstan, an Anglo-Saxon monk captured by Ragnar on his first raid in England. Gabriel Byrne as Earl Haraldson, the local Viking chieftain, Ragnars rival. Jessalyn Gilsig as Siggy, Earl Haraldsons wife. John Kavanagh as The Seer, a seiamann.
